5 days left!
And 5 reasons you should pre-order a book today
Hello, friends! There are just five days left in my book’s Kickstarter. I’m sorry if my newsletters, instagram posts, and texts have felt annoying. I feel annoying!! But, as a friend and marketing professional recently told me, it is apparently well known in the marketing world that it takes about 7 touch points to make a sale. So please consider this another touchpoint (I’m trying my best).
If you’ve already pre-ordered a book: thank you!!! Your support means the world to me and I am so excited for you to see the book this summer.
If you haven’t: that’s ok! You have five days left. And, whether you grew up going to camp or just remember the nostalgic feeling of a long and unstructured summer, I wanted to share five reasons why this book might resonate with you.

1. It captures a version of childhood we all recognize.
This is a book about summer — filled with swimming, bug spray, late nights, inside jokes, and a sense that time stretches forever. Even though it’s set at a Jewish camp, the rhythms of camp life are universal.
2. It’s about belonging (and figuring out where you fit).
Camp is one of the first places many people build independence, friendship, and identity. This book explores those moments — the ones that shape who we become — in ways that extend far beyond any single community.
3. It offers a window into a specific culture.
For those who didn’t grow up in Jewish spaces, this is an intimate look inside one — the traditions, humor, and rituals that define it. For those who did, this will be a reflection of your own experiences at your home away from home.
4. It’s about embracing childishness
I hope this project will encourage you to play with stickers! To use glitter! To call your friends and reflect! And, to help you get into this mindset, I’m planning to throw several book-related parties over the summer. Think: pool hangouts, tie-dying t-shirts, swapping friendship bracelets and eating s’mores. This book and its associated events are about embracing your inner child, making connections, and transporting us all back to camp.
5. Pre-ordering really makes a difference.
Pre-orders help determine how far a book reaches — from print runs to visibility. If this kind of story matters to you, this is one of the most direct ways to support it. And, TBH, I don’t know if I’ll ever make a book again (this has been five years in the making!). If you want to own a book of mine, this very well might be your one and only chance.
At its core, this book is not about just a particular place, but about a feeling. The kind you carry with you long after summer ends. If that resonates, I’d love for you to be a part of bringing this project into the world.
I hope to see you around the bonfire this summer!
HAGS! LYLAS!
